1. Airport taxi scam.
- At the airport, our driver will pick you up with a nameplate, some taxi drivers can copy their name and write it on paper, then quickly stand far away, then pretend to be your own driver .
- Be careful! Here are some possible scenarios: – On the way to the hotel, if the taxi driver informs you that your hotel is having problems or he directs you to another hotel, please don’t believe him.
- What you should do is contact the hotel reception or call Danang VIP Transfer hotline +84(0)9029096976 (or WhatsApp – same hotline number) and ask for information. – Scam driver tries to take your money every time you cross the bridge and blames it for toll collection.
- Do not pay him anything as tolls are included in the price paid when you arrive at the hotel with the help of the front desk. – The rogue driver drops you in front of your hotel and if someone runs up to you, telling you “the hotel is full, follow me to the second hotel”, please don’t believe him , you should go in and ask the front desk for exact information. – If the taxi driver asks for any additional payment, ignore him.
2. Money
The official currency in Vietnam is Dong. US Dollars and Euro are also accepted in many of big shops and restaurants. Various other currencies are easy to exchange in banks and even at the reception desk of your hotel.
3. Shopping
You should bargain when you shop in local markets. For example, if the shop owner says 100 dollars, you should ask for 40, and then work for an agreement from there. If negotiations are not working, start to walk away and in the vast majority of cases, the shop owners will call you back and give you their best price.
